“I spent hours on this post and it only got 312 impressions.”
“The conference pic I shared got 6,000 impressions and a ton of engagement.”
“My (great) video tanked.”
“Why is everything down?”
Sound familiar?
We hear this constantly—from individuals with huge followings to companies trying to build their brand. The LinkedIn algorithm is a moving target, and what worked six months ago (or last Tuesday) might flop today. Case in point: the single best-performing post on my personal account this year was a photo of our bedazzled Crackerjack lowball glass, filled with our client’s drink of choice.
Glassware, people. That’s what did it.
There is no crystal ball—but there are some strategies that consistently help drive engagement, grow audiences, and spark real conversations (the kind that can lead to actual business). Here’s our best list of what’s working now.
See you at the top of my feed,

It’s no secret: LinkedIn is having a moment. Once a quiet corner of the internet for job updates and humble brags, it’s now the #1 platform for B2B lead generation and a hot spot for professionals looking to build their personal brands.
But the rules have changed. Again. The 2025 LinkedIn algorithm now favors meaningful, relevant, and human content. If you want your organic posts to stand out, you’ve got to go deeper, not louder.
Here’s how to stay on top of the feed without losing your voice—or your audience:
1. Dwell time is the name of the game
LinkedIn wants users to stick around. Posts that spark thoughtful comments or feature eye-catching visuals get rewarded. End with a real question, break up your text for easy reading, and invite discussion.
2. Content is still king
But not just any content. People want posts with substance. Don’t just “share your story”—give it context and a clear takeaway. What can someone learn, apply, or try? Bonus points for photos of yourself (solo or squad-style).
3. Master the golden hour
LinkedIn watches your post closely in the first 60 minutes—that “golden hour” determines how far it goes. Poor early engagement? Expect limited reach. Hack it by spending 15 minutes engaging with your network before and after you post. And remember: comments > likes.
4. AI can help—but don’t let it take over
Tools like ChatGPT are great for outlining and ideating, but raw AI is easy to spot. Personalize it. Add anecdotes, specific examples, and your voice. The magic is in your POV.
>> Telltale signs of AI
• Way too many emojis
• Tired phrases like “treasure trove”
• “It’s not X, it’s Y”
• Hooks like “But here’s the thing:”
• Excessive em dashes (though, we still ❤️ them)
5. Mix it up with different formats
Vertical video (15–30 sec) may be the most shared, but it’s not always the most effective. Don’t sleep on carousels, infographics, and classic text posts—they often deliver stronger reach.
>> Polls tend to get strong engagement—but are limited in terms of word count and content.
- Post Tuesday–Thursday from 10 am–12 pm
- Limit hashtags, links, and tags (3 max!)
- Re-engage with your old posts to draw in fresh eyes
- Comment before liking—it gets rewarded
- Repost (without comments!) to boost reach
Margaret—we feel for you. Truly. If we had the power to bring back “Nothing But Nuts,” we would, if only to stop getting these emails. Take us back to the ’90s—simpler times, more peanuts
